Trump ’s Detractors Are Wishing For Irma To Hit Mar-A-Lago On Social Media

Just two weeks after catastrophic flooding and historic damage from Hurricane Harvey across Texas, some social media users are openly hoping Hurricane Irma will destroy President Donald Trump ’s Mar-a-Lago resort.

Weather experts have said Irma could be one of the most powerful hurricanes ever recorded, with the National Hurricane Center labeling the storm as “potentially catastrophic.”

Irma has been upgraded to a Category 5 storm with sustained winds of 185 mph.

Mar-a-Lago is in Palm Beach, Florida, which is located on the path in which experts predict the storm will travel.

Several social media users found it humorous to publicly wish for the violent storm to wreck the resort.

“Surf’s up, Mar-a-Lago: Irma is generating 46-foot waves,” said Jeffrey St. Clair, editor of CounterPunch.

“IDEA: A category 5 hurricane but it only hits Mar-a-Lago,” said Michael, a contributor to The Whiskey Journal.

“Dear Irma: This is Mar-a-Lago’s address: 1100 S Ocean Blvd., Palm Beach, FL. Don’t forget about the bonus we talked about! xo,” Laurie Notaro said.

“If Hurricane Irma hits Florida I hope it wipes #MaraLago off the face of the earth. And that everyone is safe. But I hope its demolished,” said an anonymous account with the name Donald J. Trump.

“If Hurricane Irma is looking for something to destroy, it should just park itself on top of Mar-a-Lago and leave the rest of Florida alone,” said David Starcher, a writer for Bailey Banter.

“Hurricane Irma: Please spare everyone & everything in Florida except Mar-a-Lago. The man who owns it is a bad person & is tearing us apart,” said a user with the name Proud Resister.

Some users took it even further and wished Trump himself would be at Mar-a-Lago should the storm hit the resort.

“Hey @realDonaldTrump, this would be a great weekend to stay at Mar-a-Lago. Don’t mind that Irma stuff, it’s all fake news,” said Ryan Dent.

“Floridians, you might want to evacuate. Donald Trump, you might want to take a vacation to Mar-a-Lago this weekend,” said an anonymous account named Hurricane Irma.

Harvey, a Category 4 storm, dumped nearly 52 inches of rain in certain parts of Texas and caused at least 60 reported deaths.

Experts are reporting Irma has already produced wind speeds among the strongest ever recorded for a storm in the Atlantic Ocean.

Irma is expected to make landfall in Florida by Saturday morning.
