Imagine walking the streets of New York City and running into Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
If you were in the Big Apple this week, that could have been a real possibility as the prime minster was in the city for the United Nations General Assembly.
Leader of the freest nation in the Middle East, Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, engaged with all kinds of people, including Muslims and Jews, according to Independent Journal Review.
Video of the prime minster engaging with the public shows him shaking hands and speaking with people as he strolled down a street surrounded by a small crowd.
The prime minister also took time to stop and talk to the men and women in uniform who were protecting the area. Several times he stopped and shook the hands of officers, thanking them.
At one point, he asked an officer sitting in a van what he was packing.
“What do you got there?” he asked the officer.
“An M4,” the officer replied.
Take a look at Netanyahu meandering the streets of New York City below. He asks the officer about his weapon around the 1:10 mark.
Asking a police officer about his gun must have infuriated members of the Black Lives Matter movement, a group that consistently criticizes our police officers and has even encouraged killing them.
Seeing anyone, much less an ally of President Donald Trump, engaging with and thanking police officers must have been a huge trigger.
But that is how a real leader behaves.
Netanyahu understands the importance of a strong police force — Israeli police protect citizens daily from terrorists who would do people harm — and has no qualms expressing gratitude for all that they do.
